Description

Boys' Dormitory

The round door, looking like the top of a giant barrel, swings open to reveal a space that is the very definition of "cozy." The first-year boys' dormitory is a circular room with a low, vaulted ceiling, the honey-colored wood of the floor and walls giving it a constant, warm glow. The entire space feels like a perfectly crafted badger's sett, a safe and comfortable burrow.
Four-poster beds, each with plump feather mattresses and thick patchwork quilts in shades of yellow, black, and rust, are arranged around the room, each with a small, circular window set at ground level. Through these windows, you can see the roots of ancient trees and the occasional scampering of a gnome or other small creature, a constant reminder of the dormitory's lifelong and taproots-deep connection to the earth.
The air is thick with the scent of old wood and fresh laundry, and a soft, magical light emanates from a series of copper lamps hanging from the ceiling. A small, but well-stocked, bookshelf stands in one corner, its shelves filled with well-worn textbooks and dog-eared fantasy novels. In another corner, a pile of Quidditch Trump cards, a handful of Exploding Snap cards, and a set of Gobstones sit next to a large, worn trunk.
Some beds already display small, personal touches. One has a drawing of a particularly fluffy Kneazle pinned to the post, another has a small, intricately carved wooden bird sitting on the bedside table, and a third has a stack of textbooks topped with a half-eaten bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.
The room is a sanctuary of warmth and friendship, a place where a weary first-year can truly feel at home.

Girls' Dormitory

The circular, wooden door of the Hufflepuff girls' dormitory opens with the same gentle creak, but the air inside is different. While the boys' dorm smells of old wood and laundry, here there is a faint scent of fresh flowers and parchment, a delicate mix of nature and academia.
The room shares the same low, vaulted ceiling and honey-colored walls as the boys' dorm, a continuation of the cozy, subterranean burrow. But here, the four-poster beds are a bit more carefully made, their patchwork quilts tucked in a bit more neatly, though still clearly well-loved. Sunlight streams in through the small, circular ground-level windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air and giving glimpses of the vibrant roots and grass just outside.
Each bed is a reflection of its owner's personality. One has a sketchbook overflowing with colorful drawings and a handful of bright ribbons tied to the posts, a sure sign of its artistic inhabitant. Another has a neat stack of textbooks topped with a well-worn copy of A History of Magic. A third boasts a small, potted plant that seems to be swaying gently to an inaudible tune, thriving in the warm, quiet atmosphere.
The room feels like a blend of tidy and slightly rumpled—a clear sign of busy days filled with classes and projects. A small, wicker basket in the corner overflows with knitting needles and half-finished scarves, while a nearby bookshelf holds not only textbooks but also a collection of whimsical, illustrated storybooks. The overall atmosphere is one of contentment and quiet industry, a welcoming space where a girl can be herself, surrounded by the warmth of her house and her friends.
