We witnessed a pivotal chapter for the D.I.A.D.E.M. students, marked by heavy emotional revelations, a dangerous investigation into the Hogsmeade sinkhole, and the discovery of an ancient magic emitting device beneath the earth.

The session began in Professor Dumbledore’s Transfiguration class, where the students attempted Inanimatus Conjurus (the Conjuration Incantation). Vi Thorne successfully summoned an ornate perfume bottle, while Cassie Weasley conjured a one-handed wall clock—a sentimental object reminiscent of a gift from her father to her mother. However, the lesson turned tragic for Basil Featherstone; his attempt resulted in a singed and scorched version of his childhood companion, Ruffles the Teddy, prompting him to flee the classroom in distress.

Seeking a discrete location to discuss the truth behind Annabelle Featherstone’s death, the trio headed to the Room of Requirement. This time, the room was accessed via a revolving door of multi-coloured panes and manifested as a familiar sitting room from Mallory Court, complete with tea and biscuits.

In this private sanctuary, Basil finally recounted the full story of his mother's passing. He explained that in 1928, while suffering a night terror, he instinctively lashed out with magic at a looming figure—his mother—killing her instantly. During this heavy conversation, Cassie read Basil's tea leaves, noting that following the threads of Eleonora Humblewood’s story would yield positive short-term results but mixed long-term consequences.

The group continued their magical training, acquiring a range of new potions including Herbicide Potion, Regerminating Potion, and Confusing Concoctions. Amidst this, Vi discovered that Penelope (Penny) Perkins was acting erratically. Investigation revealed Penny was "wired" on a dangerous cocktail of Baruffio's Brain Elixir (to sharpen her mind) and Wide-Eye Potion (to prevent sleep). While Penny was taken to the Hospital Wing to recover, Cassie hid the surplus supply in Agnes Finch’s side table.

The narrative shifted to the Hogsmeade sinkhole, an enormous 100ft wide gap in the road. Intending to bypass the Ministry of Magic squad guarding the site, Cassie used a forged permission slip bearing a copy of Percival Graves’ signature. Upon arrival, they witnessed a squad under Alastair Thorpe-Wick firing ineffectual spells into the void.

As they approached, the blue mote of Eleonora Humblewood appeared. Basil was suddenly pulled into the earth, with the mote orbiting him reassuringly as he plummeted. Cassie and Vi pursued on broomback; during the descent, Vi noted Acromantula moving toward the surface and found her magic misfiring due to the intense Ancient Magic emanating from the depths.

At the bottom of the sinkhole (over 300ft down), the trio discovered:

After contacting Jackdaw Finch via Messaging Scrap, they were warned that the Clockwork Device was a hugely powerful weapon or disruptor; acting on his advice, Cassie abandoned the device in a large chamber.

The mote led them to a circular chamber featuring a central pedestal and marble columns. The mote entered a glass orb on the pedestal, which Basil recognised from his visions. They discovered that moving the orb altered the room’s architecture, manifesting different doors depending on its height.

The trio eventually entered a hole in the ceiling and followed a long passage. Cassie attempted to manifest an exit, and a door appeared with the same "instant gratification" seen in the Room of Requirement. However, upon opening it, they found only a solid stone wall behind the door. The mote of Eleonora phased through the stone, leaving the party perplexed and trapped in the tunnel.

Session Events

Event:: Cassie & Vi learn Inanimatus Conjurus. During the course of which Vi summons an ornate perfume bottle and Cassie a one-handed wall clock - the start of another project and a reminder of one her father gave to her mother.

Event:: Whilst attempting to learn Inanimatus Conjurus, Basil conjured a singed and scorched version of Ruffles the Teddy. He flees Prof. Dumbledore's class, failing to learn the spell in the process

Event:: Cassie, Vi & Basil meet to discuss the death of Annabelle Featherstone (dec.). Seeking somewhere discrete, they head for the Room of Requirement

Event:: Arriving three abreast, Cassie, Vi & Basil find the Room of Requirement this time accessed via a revolving door of blue, green and grey aura-d panes. Basil steps through and manifests one of the sitting rooms at Mallory Court. The room creates tea and biscuits.

Event:: Basil recounts to Cassie & Vi elements of his back story regarding the death of his mother: See The death of Annabelle Featherstone

Event:: During Basil's recounting of The death of Annabelle Featherstone, Cassie reads his tea leaves. Following the threads of Eleonora Humblewood (dec.)'s tragic tale showed positive results in the short term and mixed results over the longer term

Event:: The Room of Requirement manifests a copy of today's Daily Prophet, which Basil reads to Cassie and Vi: "Ministry Thwarted at Hogsmeade Skinkhole by Strange Blue Mote"

Event:: Cassie, Vi & Basil learn a raft or new potions, and are equipped with various quantities and qualities of: Herbicide Potion, Regerminating Potion, Confusing Concoction & Forgetfulness Potion

Event:: Vi notices Penelope (Penny) Perkins acting strangely. Upon investigation, Penny is wired on a cocktail of Baruffio's Brain Elixir & Wide-Eye Potion. As Cassie stashes Penny's supply (in Agnes Finch's side table!), Vi takes Penny to sleep (ot whatever!) it off in the Hospital Wing

Event:: Intending to try and bypass the Ministry of Magic squad at the Hogsmeade sinkhole, Cassie obtains from Jackdaw Finch a sample of Percival Graves' signature. She uses it to forge a permission slip to enter the skinkhole.

Event:: Cassie, Vi & Basil head on brooms to the Hogsmeade Sinkhole. On approach, Vi is buffetted badly by some sort of magical energy emanating from deep under the ground out from the sinkhole

Event:: As Cassie, Vi & Basil arrive at the sinkhole they find a squad of Ministry of Magic witches and wizards firing spells ineffectually into the void, watched over by Alastair Thorpe-Wick, Head of eth Dept of Magical Mysteries.

Event:: Creeping towards the blue mote of Eleonora Humblewood (dec.), Basil is pulled from the ground and hangs briefly over the void before being pulled down into the Earth with the blue mote orbiting him slowly, reassuringly almost.

Event:: Cassie & Vi dive into the sinkhole on broomback in pursuit of the plummeting Basil. Vi sees a number of Acromantula wandering towards the surface and, still affected by the unexplained energy pulsing from beneath, is unable to keep pace with Cassie. Vi's magic begins to misfire once again.

Event:: Whilst falling down the Hogsmeade Skinkhole, Basil communes with the spirit of Eleonora Humblewood (dec.). When he asks if his friends, Cassie and Vi can accompany them wherever they are going, Eleonora informs Basil that "We will meet them. At the end. We go to where it all began and where it will all end"

Event:: At the very bottom of the Hogsmeade Sinkhole, Cassie, Vi & Basil find a curious metal box, explosed in places to reveal complex clockwork mechanisms. Cassie, using her Elder Wand's Specialis Revelio discerns that the box is emitting the very Ancient Magic that is affecting Vi

Event:: Cassie, Vi & Basil discover at the bottom of the sinkhole an ancient passageway, now exposed the the air way above. At a depth of over -300ft, tunnels head off in two directions. One leading west is visible to all, but one leading East is hidden behind similar illusory shields as used at the Forbidden Forest Test Pit. Vi sees right through it.

Event:: Cassie, Vi & Basil follow the mote of Eleonora Humblewood (dec.) along the passage leading East

Event:: Cassie, carrying the strange metal box, uses the Messaging Scrap to contact Jackdaw Finch. He informs her that she, Vi and Basil are in danger. The Ancient Magical IED seems to be a hugely powerful weapon or disruptor. On Jackdw's advice, Cassie abandons the device at the back of a large chamber

Event:: Eleonora Humblewood (dec.)'s mote leads Cassie, Vi & Basil to a large circular chamber. In the centre stands a pedestal surrounded by marble columns. The mote enters a glass orb on the pedestal and glows within

Event:: Basil, recognising the orb as like the one seen in the vision with Eleonora Humblewood (dec.) and Felix Bourne (dec.), moves to grab it. Cassie observes that as the orb is moved, the room around them subtly changes, manifesting a single door depending on the height (not the lateral position) of the orb in the space. Whenever Basil holds it though, a perfectly circular hole in the ceiling remains open

Event:: Cassie, Vi & Basil enter the hole in the ceiling of the round chamber and arrive in another long passage. They follow it for a long time before Cassie thinks to contemplate an exit. With the same instant gratification of the Room of Requirement, a door appears

Event:: Cassie opens the door that appeared in the tunnels beneath Hogwarts. She, Vi & Basil find themselves looking at another stone wall immediately behind the door (as they have seen once before when Eleonora's mote flew through one). The mote disappears through it like a ghist would, leaving the party perplexed in the tunnel.
